E-Invoicing for Car Garages & Automotive Workshops in UAE: Dates, Thresholds and Penalties
Most UAE garages go live on 1 July 2027 and must have an Accredited Service Provider appointed by 31 March 2027. Garages with revenue of AED 50 million or more go live on 1 January 2027. Here is what changes on the workshop floor.

The dates that apply to your garage
Revenue under AED 50 million: appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 31 March 2027, go live 1 July 2027. Revenue of AED 50 million or more: ASP by 30 October 2026, go live 1 January 2027. The voluntary pilot opens 1 July 2026.

What E-Invoicing Means for Your Garage
E-invoicing turns every job card into a structured data file, not a PDF. Your garage system passes that file to an Accredited Service Provider, which validates it and exchanges it over the Peppol network using the PINT AE specification. Your workshop does not connect to Federal Tax Authority servers directly. A PDF emailed to the customer is not an e-invoice.
What Changes for Garages:

Oil changes, repairs and diagnostics all route through your ASP. The printed pad and the emailed PDF stop counting.
- Parts & Labor Separation:
Invoices must show parts and labor as distinct line items with individual VAT
- Warranty Work Tracking:
Whoever is billed for a warranty repair — customer, manufacturer or warranty provider — gets the e-invoice. Where nothing is charged to anyone, record the work against the vehicle.
- Vehicle History Integration:
E-invoices carry the chassis or plate reference, so the service history stays attached to the vehicle

Parts vs Labor Breakdown
Parts and labour go on separate lines, each with its own net amount and 5% VAT, rather than one lump-sum figure for the job. That keeps the VAT on each element visible on the invoice your ASP transmits.
Example: Brake repair - Parts: AED 800, Labor: AED 300. Two lines, VAT at 5% on each: AED 40 and AED 15. Invoice total AED 1,155.
Job Scope Changes
Technicians find extra faults mid-job. Added parts and hours must reach the final e-invoice through the system, not as a handwritten addendum stapled to the job card.
Warranty Claims
A warranty job is often paid by someone other than the driver. The e-invoice goes to whoever is billed — manufacturer, warranty provider or customer — for the amount actually charged. Where no party is billed, record the parts drawn and hours booked against the vehicle instead.
Multi-Day Jobs
A gearbox rebuild running four days produces one e-invoice at completion, carrying every part drawn and every hour booked across those days.
Your Timeline and What Missing It Costs
Garage with revenue under AED 50 million:
- 1 July 2026 — voluntary pilot opens
- 31 March 2027 — Accredited Service Provider appointed
- 1 July 2027 — mandatory go-live
- At AED 50m or above: ASP by 30 October 2026, go-live 1 January 2027
If you are not live on your date:
AED 5,000 per month
AED 60,000 over twelve months
The penalty runs per month of non-compliance. Job volume does not change it.

Do I need e-invoices for free inspections?
If nothing is charged, there is no invoice to transmit. Record the inspection against the vehicle. If the inspection is bundled into a paid job, show it as a line on the invoice for that job.
What is the penalty for garage e-invoicing non-compliance?
AED 5,000 per month, not per invoice. It applies for each month the garage stays non-compliant after its go-live date. The number of job cards you write does not change the figure.
