E-Invoicing for Trading & Wholesale Companies in UAE: 2026-2027 Timeline

Most trading companies sit below AED 50 million in revenue. That puts mandatory go-live at 1 July 2027, with an Accredited Service Provider appointed by 31 March 2027.

Your Date Depends on Revenue

Below AED 50 million: appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 31 March 2027, go live 1 July 2027. At or above AED 50 million: ASP by 30 October 2026, go live 1 January 2027. The voluntary pilot opens 1 July 2026.

Non-compliance carries a penalty of AED 5,000 per month, not per invoice.

What E-Invoicing Means for Trading Companies

Your ERP does not send invoices to the Federal Tax Authority. It sends structured invoice data to an Accredited Service Provider, which exchanges it on the Peppol network using the PINT AE specification. A PDF emailed to a customer is not an e-invoice.

What Changes:

Every B2B Transaction:

Every wholesale and trading invoice is issued as structured data in the PINT AE format

ASP Connection:

Your ERP connects to an Accredited Service Provider on the Peppol network, not to FTA servers

Credit Terms Tracking:

E-invoices must show payment terms and due dates clearly

Trading-Specific Challenges

1. Invoice Value Does Not Change the Penalty

The penalty is AED 5,000 per month of non-compliance. It does not scale with the size of the deal. What scales is the mapping work: every field your ERP prints on a trading invoice has to map to PINT AE before go-live.

2. Multi-Currency Handling

Import/export transactions in USD, EUR, or other currencies must convert to AED with documented exchange rates.

3. Credit Terms & Payment Schedules

B2B invoices with 30/60/90 day terms need proper documentation in e-invoices for compliance tracking.

Check Your ERP Against PINT AE

We map your invoice data to PINT AE and shortlist an Accredited Service Provider. Below AED 50 million, your ASP appointment is due 31 March 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do trading companies need e-invoicing in UAE?

Yes. The date depends on revenue. At or above AED 50 million, appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and go live 1 January 2027. Below AED 50 million, appoint an ASP by 31 March 2027 and go live 1 July 2027. A voluntary pilot opens 1 July 2026.

How do I handle multi-currency invoices?

E-invoices must show amounts in AED. If transactions occur in foreign currency, document the exchange rate used and convert to AED for FTA compliance.
